Summer Rooftop – Boston

We’ve talked patios, beer gardens, and closed down streets. Now, we are going to tell you about our favorite rooftop decks in Boston. In the city, rooftops come in all shapes and sizes– from those sweeping views of the city to two-story rooftops with cheap drinks.

Cunard Tavern

Cunard is one of our favorite places, whether you’re on the roof or inside. For true beer fans, their rotating tap list is second to none. It is constantly changing, so you never know what you’ll get when you walk in. Some heavy hitters they have had on tap include Bissell Brothers, Other Half, and Weldwerk. Their rooftop has great views of the harbor, including Blue Hills Pavilion and Seaport. You can go wicked healthy, or you can go with a thick burger and the regular/sweet potato fry mix. Located next to the East Boston waterfront, there are stunning views of the city skyline from across the harbor. Whether you are going for a fancy date night, or for beers and burgers with the boys, Cunard is a spot where you can do both.

A highlight off their summer menu is the boiled octopus. It melts in your mouth and is smothered in an herb gremolata (a citrusy garlic sauce).

Felipe’s

We love Felipe’s (and wrote about them previously in our burrito guide), but had to bring them back for their underrated rooftop. You aren’t going to get sweeping city views from this second-story roof deck, but you will get killer Mexican food with some of the best margaritas around. Felipe’s is the perfect spot to spend an afternoon soaking in the sun if you are in Cambridge. Come for the Baja sauce and margs, stay for the good vibes on the roof deck.

Our pro tip: when you get the burrito, instead of getting their delicious queso in the burrito, get a cup of it on the side. You’ll get more and will get to smother your burrito in that liquid gold.

Deck12

When it comes down to views of the city, skyline Deck12 has some of the best. This is the spot to go if you are looking to impress a date. Located in the Seaport, it is an ideal stop during a night of bar hopping. They have a great drink selection, but when you see the prices you’ll be reminded that you are paying for not only the vodka in your martini but also that beautiful Boston skyline view. Not an everyday hangout, but for those special occasions when you want to bust out the red carpet, Deck12 has you covered.
