Looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the Bay? Looking for a beach that is less touristy than Baker Beach and sunnier than Ocean Beach? Well, we have the perfect day trip for you!
If you want a small beach town with a middle-of-nowhere vibe, then Stinson Beach is the spot. Located just 30 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge, you will feel like you were transported into a small beach town USA.
The drive up to Stinson Beach is straight out of a sports car commercial. You’ll enjoy long winding roads, ocean cliffs to your left, and green mountains to your right. Just make sure not to take your eyes on the road for to long! The “cherry on top” is the final bend. Suddenly, the beach appears as far as the eye can see.
When we say beach “As far as the eye can see” that is no exaggeration. The town is essentially one long beach. Also, half the beach is dog friendly, so there is plenty of room for your furry friend to run around.
Leave your tinfoil wrapped sandwiches at home (They will get covered in sand anyways) because Siren Canteen is serving up all of the beach classics. Yes, they have burgers and dogs, but we highly recommend the burritos and tacos. Their fish tacos are so fresh they taste like they jumped out of the ocean right on to your plate. Topped with house made pico and crema, these will have you coming back all day.
However, the real kicker is their salsa bar. Not only do they have all homemade, extremely fresh salsas but they also have homemade pickles that are “to die for.” Feeling a bit parched? They also have a great selection of beer and margaritas, as well as adult milkshakes. No matter which you choose, these are the perfect drinks to quench your thirst on a hot summer day.
So, get in your Zipcar and go to explore one of the hidden gems of the Bay Area!
